The slowing economy is affecting the aircraft industry

It's been reported Hawker Beechcraft is cutting its workforce by five percent.

In a letter sent to employees, Hawker Beechcraft chairman and Chief Executive Jim Schuster said, “While these reductions are painful, they are absolutely necessary.”

There is no word yet if the five percent, which comes out to 490 jobs, will be cut from the Wichita facility or elsewhere throughout the company.

If you have become unemployed this year, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 says that the first $2,400 you receive in unemployment benefits, will be considered "tax free" when you file your taxes next year.

This tax-exclusion is per person, so if both husband and wife lose their jobs and both receive unemployment, they may each exclude $2,400.
