Is Wichita Paying Attention To Omaha Shooting?
While some people might find it comforting to think that Wichita is paying attention to the mall shooting in Omaha, the reality is that Wichita Police say it's impossible to predict a shooting like the massacre at an Omaha mall Wednesday. And, there's little they can do to prevent such a tragedy. Still, they practice drills to make sure they're prepared for them when they happen. WPD officials say they've used Towne East and Towne West Malls, the two largest shopping centers in the city, to train for shootings.
Instead of taking appropriate actions to prevent crime in our community, the WPD and other local, regional, and national law enforcement agencies can only sit back and wait until there are bodies to count. They have been overwhelmed by crime in our society and only seem ready to react to the most violent. Then, they are quick to lay out their response with the promise "it will never happen again." But, it does happen again… this is the fourth shooting at a mall or shopping center in the U.S. this year and part of a growing overall trend of violent crime in our society.
Whenever there is a tragedy such as this, it never fails to bring out the cowards calling for more gun control and un-American social engineers who relish the opportunity to profile disenfranchised Americans as the enemy next door. They totally ignore the sickness that has infected most of the corporate world, the injustice permeating much of our economy, the politically correct nonsense in the public sphere, and the hatred of everything good by a growing number of people in our society. Instead, they attack and tear down the foundations of freedom, and blame it all on the victim.
I wish Wichita was paying attention to the Omaha shootings, but I'm afraid they are not. The same environment that led to the tragedy in Omaha is now being fostered right here in river city. Some would like you to believe these crimes are random, they're not. Like a cancerous tumor, they appear in areas that are diseased.
Wichita, it's only a matter of time before we see similar violence explode in one of our shopping malls, bank lobbies, or public gatherings. The ingredients are present and the pot is percolating… the question is when will it boil over?
